Harvey Andrews

Biografia:

Harvey Andrews (born Harvey John Andrews, May 7, 1943 in Birmingham) is an English singer, songwriter, and poet.

From 1964, Andrews supported his nascent career as a singer/songwriter by working as a schoolteacher, before becoming a full-time professional musician in 1966.

His emotive The Soldier transmits the same quiet desperation of a soldier about to die "in conflict" as Wilfred Owen's Dulce Et Decorum Est

VERSE 1
********

If you ever feel you’d rather talk it over with your father
F Dm
I’m here
G
If you ever need that fiver, a chauffeur for a driver

I’m here

And if you ever feel like thinking aloud when choice is shrinking
F D G
And you’d like to talk whilst drinking a beer

I’ll buy the pints and I’ll listen
C
'Cause I’m here

And if you need a cook-a-luncher, a rustle-up-a-bruncher

I’m here

If you’ve ever been so lied to by someone your love was tied to

I can tell you that I’ve cried too, King Lear

But I promise I won’t joke, I won’t jeer

I’m here

And my days go by so fast, I’ve less future and more past
D G
And there’ll come that day at last I’ll disappear

There’ll come that day at last I won’t be here
