Capo 5

Intro: C, F, G, C

Verse 1
C F G C
If I could have a drink, with Mr. Hank Williams
C F G C
I'd ask him if the whiskey, if it made him feel strong.
C F G C
Then I'd take a deep breath, and I would hand him my Martin
C F G C
And ask him to cry one of his old gospel songs

(Intro)

Verse 2
C F G C
If I could have a drink, with the King of Memphis
C F G C
I'd ask him where the hell did he learn all his moves.
C F G C
And what was it like to watch them women go crazy
C F G C
When you blew their minds dancin in your blue suede shoes.

Chorus
G C G C
You paved the way, you cut the path
G C F C
You set the standard which we all aim at
G C G C
And you keep livin on, through the songs you used to sing
G C F C
Oh and what I wouldn't give, to have one drink

(Intro)

Verse 3
C F G C
If I could have a drink, with the man in black
C F G C
I'd ask him when he knew that Ms. June was the one
C F G C
What was it like, to stand in that prison
C F G C
And sing about freedom to a man that didn't have none.

Chorus
G C G C
You paved the way, you cut the path
G C F C
You set the standard which we all aim at
G C G C
And you keep livin on, through the songs you used to sing
G C F C
Oh and what I wouldn't give, to have one drink

(Intro)
