Biografia:
Dois canadenses de Toronto que surgiram em 2002, quando lançaram o EP 'Heads Up', inovando o mundo underground com apenas dois instrumentos, baixo e bateria. Algumas citações fazem referência aos White Stripes, por ter apenas dois instrumentos, mas os DFA1979 (abreviação mais usada para a banda) têm uma sonoridade mais pesada.
Como a banda possuía o nome de gravadora de James Murphy (dos LCD Soundsystem), a Death From Above Records, eles enfrentaram uma disputa judicial pelo nome Death From Above
