Biografia:
Dave Matthews nasceu e viveu em África do Sul até aos seus 10 anos de idade, quando seu pai faleceu devido a complicações na doença de Hodgkins. Mudou-se então, para Yorktown Heighs, em Nova York. Aos 12 anos volta a África do Sul onde permanece, saltando de escola em escola, concentrando-se mais na música do que nos estudos. Após o secundário, Dave estabeleceu-se em Charlottesville, Virgínia, onde, incerto do que iria fazer, tornou-se um conhecido e querido barman no Miller's.
