Formada inicialmente por Johnny Gioeli (vocal), Jun Senoue (guitarra), Naoto Shibata (baixo) e Hirotsugu Homma (bateria), mais tarde com a entrada de Takeshi Taneda (baixo) e Katsuji (bateria), Crush 40 tenta trazer toda a atitude do rock para os videogames, conseguindo captar um grande público com suas melodias. O nome Crush 40 é uma combinação do nome do refrigerante preferido de Jun (Crush) e o número 40
