Craig David Ashley, ou simplesmente Craig David, nasceu no dia 5 de Maio de 1981, em Southampton, Hampshire, Inglaterra. É cantor R&B - focando-se principalmente no R&B -, compositor e ator.
Começou a se interessar por música bem cedo. Na adolescência compõe suas primeiras músicas, inspirado no Hip-Hop, Funk e em estilos musicais tipicamente urbanos e artistas como Terence Trent D'Arby, Sisqo e Donell Jones.
Realiza seus primeiros concertos em clubes noturnos.
