Biografía:
Bronski Beat se formó en 1983, año en que Somerville, Steinbachek y Bronski compartieron una casa de Lancaster, en Brixton, al sudoeste de Londres. El nombre de la banda era al parecer “dios prohibido” antes de que Bronski Beat fuera sugerido por Steve.
El grupo firmó un contrato de grabación en Londres en 1984 después de que solamente hizo 9 hits en vivo. El primer single llegó al número 3 en el Reino Unido. Smalltown Boy, la historia sobre de un muchacho que fue echado lejos por su familia y vecinos por ser gay.
