Paul Pena foi um dos músicos do blues e do rock que, tendo passado desconhecido de quase todo o mundo, só obteve reconhecimento, mais recentemente, quando os diretores Adrian e Roko Belic resolveram rodar o filme Genghis Blues, contando a aventura do bluesman Paul Pena, ao incorporar e desenvolver uma técnica fantástica e única de utilizar as cordas vocais e a garganta para conseguir um timbre vocal muito característico.
Nasceu em 1950, em Hyannis, MA, e seus avós vieram de Cabo Verde, na África.
