Biografía:
Nightwish es fundada en 1996 por el tecladista Tuomas Holopainen. Inicialmente tratando de crear música acústica, reclutó a la vocalista de ópera entrenada Tarja Turunen, pero pronto agregó instrumentación de enfocada hacia el metal con ayuda del guitarrista Emppo Vuorinen y el baterista Jukka Nevalainen. Las demos de Nightwish les dieron un contrato con el sello finlandés Spinefarm, que lanzó su álbum debut, "Angels Fall First", a fines de 1997 (apareció en el resto de Europa al año siguiente).
