The Sam Song

by The Irish Brigade
The Irish Brigade

Biografía:

The Irish brigade are an overtly Political ballad group from Northern Ireland. Good Musicians who also play non political material. They can veer from a humorous to poignant view of the situation in their country.

Similar to Shebeen and Seanchai in their outlook, The Irsh Brigade play regularly throughout Ireland, North and South and are very popular in the Celtic side of Glasgow.

There is also an Irish Brigade based out of the Twin Cities, MN in the US. This band has toured for over thirty years.

[Verse 1]
Am G
Well I have been a Provo now for 15 years or more
Am C E
With armalites and mortorbombs I though I knew the score
Am
But now we have a weapon we've never used before
C E Am
The Brits are looking worried and their going to worry more

[Chorus]
G Am
Tiocfaidh Ar La,sing Up the Ra
C Em Am
Sam missiles in the sky

[Verse 2]
Am G
I started off with petrol bombs and throwing bricks and stones
Am C E
With a hundred more lads like me I never was alone
Am
But soon I learned that bricks and stones wont drive the Brits away
C E Am
It wasn't long before I joined the I.R.A.

[Chorus]
G Am
Tiocfaidh Ar La,sing Up the Ra
C Em Am
Sam missiles in the sky

[Verse 3]
Am G
Then there came internment in the year of '71
Am C E
The Brits thought we were beaten, that we were on the run
Am
On that early August morning they kicked in our door
C E Am
But for every man they took away, they missed a hundred more

[Chorus]
G Am
Tiocfaidh Ar La,sing Up the Ra
C Em Am
Sam missiles in the sky

[Verse 4]
Am G
I spent eight years in the cages,I had time to think and plan
Am C E
For though they locked away a boy,I walked away a man
Am
And there's only one thing I learned while in their cell I lay
C E Am
The Brits will never leave us,until there blown away

[Chorus]
G Am
Tiocfaidh Ar La,sing Up the Ra
C Em Am
Sam missiles in the sky

[Verse 5]
Am G
All through the days of hunger strike I watched my comrades die
Am C E
While in the streets of Belfast you hear the women cry
Am
I cant forget the massacre that Friday at Loughgall
C E Am
I salute my fallen comrades,as I watch the choppers fall

[Chorus]
G Am
Tiocfaidh Ar La,sing Up the Ra
C Em Am
Sam missiles in the sky
