Biografía:
Pat Smear (nacido como Georg Ruthenberg el 5 de agosto de 1959), es un guitarrista de rock que ha sido miembro de bandas tan conocidas como Germs, Nirvana y Foo Fighters.
Smear nació y creció al oeste de Los Ángeles, California. Su madre es una afroamericana y su padre es un judío alemán. Como adolescente en 1976, Smear conoció a Darby Crash y ambos conformaron la banda The Germs con la bajista Lorna Doom y la baterista Dottie Danger (pseudónimo de Belinda Carlisle, posterior cantante de The Go-Gos).
