Crow, Pt. 2 - Mount Eerie

Esus4 Amadd9 Asus2 Em/G Asus2(II) Em/F# G Gsus4
e|---0-------0--------0-------0-------0----------0------0-------------|
B|---0-------0--------0-------0-------0----------0------0-------------|
G|---2-------2--------2-------0-------4----------4------4-------------|
D|---2-------2--------2-------2-------2----------4------0------0------|
A|---2-------3--------0-------2-------0----------2------2------3------|
E|---0------------------------3------------------2------3------3------|

On each chord, pluck the root note, strum, pluck either the D or G string, then strum again.
In the intro, always pluck G. When playing Em/G, always pluck D. Otherwise, alternate or pick at random.
Usually on the 4th play through you want to pluck G

Play each chord 4 times

[Intro]

Esus4 Amadd9 Asus2

[Verse 1]
Amadd9
A crow that's being dreamed

By a child who's being carried through the forest

Sleeping, wondering in her twilight half-awareness

Where her mother went
Esus4
I know that you died

But in this child's crow dream you survive

[Verse 2]
Amadd9
Beneath layers of magical symbolic wild animals

Inhabiting the edges of our fogged-over consciousnesses
Asus2
Grasping for something to hold

Something old

Like a name cut into a stone
Em/G
Or a bird that will make eye contact

[Verse 3]
Esus4
That's where you live now

Or at least that's where I hold you
Amadd9
And we're still here without you

Sleeping and the sun's coming up
Asus2
In the ruins of our household, we wake up again

Coming back into this
Em/G
Every day that comes, the echo of you living here gets quieter

Obscured by the loud wind of us now
Esus4
Wailing and moaning for you

But also living, talking about school
Amadd9
Making food, just surviving and still containing love

Waking up again, the baby that you knew is now a kid
Asus2
And when she looks at me with your eyes the shape of almonds

I am stirred inside and reemerge
Em/G
I go downstairs and turn on CBC and make some coffee

And boil two eggs and make two pieces of bread into toast
Esus4
And open the window and give the child some clothes

And get us sitting at the table

Where your chair still sits across from me, watching
Amadd9
I stand up to put on music

Our daughter sees and asks for mama's record
Asus2
And she's staring at the speaker with this look of recognition

Putting it together that it's you singing
Em/G
I'm sobbing and eating eggs again

You're a quiet echo on loud wind
Esus4
But when I'm trying to, I see you everywhere

In plants and birds and in our daughter

In the sun going down and coming up and in whatever
Amadd9
And the myths that used to get told around the fire

Where a seal's head pokes up through from underwater
Asus2
Crossing a threshold between two worlds, yours and mine

We were skeletally intertwined once
Em/G
But now I notice ravens instead

I don't see you anywhere

[Bridge]

Pattern changes here. No longer plucking the root note, instead a slow strum. Listen to song, but on each
chord there is a string for the second pluck. On the album there are a lot of pulloffs which you can mess
around with.

Esus4 x4 Amadd9 x4
Asus2(II) x2 Em/G x2
Esus2/F# x2 G x4

D|--0------2----4--| is played on the last playthrough of G. Listen to song to find timing

Em x2 Amadd9 x4

[Outro]
Amadd9
If you still hang in the branches

Like burnt wood, I will go out beneath

With arms reached and run my fingers through the air
Em
Where you breathed, touching your last breath
G Gsus4
Reaching through to the world of the gone with my hand empty
