As with many bluegrass songs, alternating bass notes are nearly mandatory. The tempo
on this one makes it tough. Remember capo on fourth fret to play with the recording.
The song is recorded in B - but in order to play this at this tempo it's capoed to use
the G shape for B. There's also a chromatic run(g-a-a#-b-c) in soome of the G to C changes,
and these are easier to achieve using the G shape. I saw Larry once, and I recall he used
a capo on a few of his songs. This may have been one of them.
You could also capo at 2 and use A, D and E instead of G, C, D.

[Verse 1]
G
Well, I was chalkin' up my cue about to break 'em
C
When out of the corner of my eye
D
That long legged honey blonde from Macon
G
Flashed me a 'C'mon' smile as she walked by

Little Cecil shook his head and looked disgusted
C
When I turned and hung my stick up on the wall
D
He said 'even if you take your best shot at her -
G
you'll end up behind the old eight ball'

[Chorus]
C
She's a real good way to get your heart broke
G
A walkin'-talkin' invitation to the blues
D
If you wanna hang yourself-she'll hand you the rope
F D G
She's a real good way to get your heart broke

[Solo]
C G D F D G

[Verse 2]
G
She said, 'I usually don't hang out in these old places
C
let's go somewhere so we can be alone'
D
I thought about what little Cecil told me
G
But to tell the truth - I didn't think about it long

I fell in love before I knew what hit me
C
Like a fool, I let her lead me on
D
And now she's on a red eye back to Georgia
G
And I'm a-tellin' you about her in this song

[Chorus]
C
She's a real good way to get your heart broke
G
A walkin'-talkin' invitation to the blues
D
If you wanna hang yourself-she'll hand you the rope
F D G
She's a real good way to get your heart broke

[Solo]
C G D F D G

[Chorus]
C
She's a real good way to get your heart broke
G
A walkin'-talkin' invitation to the blues
D
If you wanna hang yourself-she'll hand you the rope
F D G
She's a real good way to get your heart broke

[Outro]
F F D D G G
