Las Gothic Archies es uno de los proyectos del compositor Stephin Merritt, mas conocido por The Magnetic Fields y The 6th's.
Lo que comienza como una pequeña broma hacia la musica siniestra en 1997 con la publicacion del disco 'The New Despair' y que invita a pensar en las Gothic Archies como una genialidad puntual, toma forma sorprendentemente con la publicacion de un segundo disco en el 2006 llamado 'The Tragic Treasury', canciones que acompañan la celebrada obra de Daniel Handler 'Lemony Snicket'
