Nativos Washington, SOJA ha sido la banda mas representativa del reggae en esta ciudad. Fundada la banda en 1997, han grabado ya 3 almbumes y un EP, su música es producida bajo el sello Innerloop.
Jacob Hempill (voces y guitarra) y Bob Jefferson (voces y bajo) se conocieron en primer grado tiempo después de que Hempill volvió, junto con su familia, a los Estados Unidos de su vida en África. Él junto a Jefferson conocen al resto de la banda durante el transcurso de la preparatoria
