Biografía:

La Rosa was born in Brooklyn, New York. In 1947, at age 17, he joined the United States Navy after finishing high school, becoming a radioman. He sang in a Navy choir, at the officers club, and at bars to pay for his drinks.
The young sailor's Navy buddies managed to promote him to Arthur Godfrey - at the time one of America's leading radio and television personalities

The pronounciation of "Goombaree" varies from dialect to dialect.
Most pronounce it "Goom-bah-deh" or "Cumpari"
The song builds on itself, each verse adding a new instrument and its sound.
Where you see (*whistle*), you whistle 3 or 4 short bursts.
Italian is somewhat reverse of english with certian sounds. I is pronounced like a long E.
E is pronounced like Eh, and A is pronounced like Ah but shorter, like a short o.
Ci in Italian is pronounced Chee in english and Chi in Italian is pronounced like Key in English.

Thoroughly confused? Find one online and listen to it, YouTube has a few. Here's a link to one version:

I cannot guarantee all the words are accurate, but it is a close approximation and kind of fun.
