by John Statz
John Statz

Biografía:

When singer/songwriter John Statz isn’t at home in Denver, Colorado, he’s out traveling the world, playing shows and writing and recording in places like Budapest, Slovenia, Quebec, and Anchorage. For his new album, Old Fashioned, he is bringing it back home. INTRO: Em A Em A Em

A
Driving across Nebraska with my southern sin
Em
Was cruising real nice and slow
A
Driving across country with air on, it was fine
Em
There was no place that he'd rather go

A
Been living too long in that one room shack
Em
Just living too damn long
A
Woke up last night in a cold sweat thinking
Em D
It was time to be gone

CHORUS 1:
G C
No more friends behind him now
G D
And any more in front
Em
He was a bastard, to say it
C G D
And he wasn't even very tall

CHORUS 2:
G C
No more friends behind him now
G D
And any more in front
Em
He was a bastard, to say it
C G
And I guess that he didn't know

INTERLUDE: Em A Em A Em

A
Got to her house about 7 or 8
Em
She was nowhere to be found
A
Went around town asking folks
Em
If she'd been put in the ground

BRIDGE:
G
People'd heard of Earle's quiet, dirty pains
D Em
And the sadness in his eyes and the hunger in his veins

Expected as much, I guess nothing's forever
D Em D
She'd gone through a wind, but came in with the rain

CHORUS 1:
G C
No more friends behind him now
G D
And any more in front
Em
He was a bastard, to say it
C G D
And he wasn't even very tall

CHORUS 2:
G C
No more friends behind him now
G D
And any more in front
Em
He was a bastard, to say it
C G
And I guess that he didn't know

OUTRO: D G C G D Em C G (2x)
