Tiene tres hermanos mayores.
Además de apoyar a la Fundación Cody Waters, McCurdy fue activa en campañas como la lucha contra el cambio climático (que apoya el Fondo Mundial para la Naturaleza), la suspensión de niños soldados (Invisible Children Inc.) y Saint Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
