James Keelaghan

Who Dies

by James Keelaghan
James Keelaghan

Biografía:

James Keelaghan is a Juno award-winning Canadian folk singer-songwriter born in Calgary, Alberta, now based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Many of his songs, such as "Kiri's Piano", about the interment of Japanese Canadians, "October 70", about the FLQ crisis, are inspired by events and figures in Canadian history. Known for his lilting baritone voice, his driving rhythm guitar, and a keen sense of scene and narrative, Keelaghan’s music bridges traditional folk music with Canadiana.

James Keelaghan - Who Dies

INTRO: G D G C G C G D G
C G D G C G D G C G D G

A nephew once asked me when he was quite young
D G C
Who dies? I said, "Everyone dies"
G C G
No use denying it, one day you're done
D G
Oh, everyone dies

C G D G
Princes and paupers there's no one immune
C G D
And no one who'll escape their demise
G C G
So you'd better make most of each day that you're given
D G
Oh, everyone dies

INSTRUMENTAL: (same as above 2 verses)

G
Now people have pondered this time and again
D G C
Who dies? Everyone dies
G C G
We suspect that we're more than mere mortal remains
D G
Oh, everyone dies

C G D G
Wise men and prophets they've all had their say
C G D
On the nature of our afterlives
G C G
But in case there's no beer there, we'll have one more round
D G
Oh, everyone dies

INSTRUMENTAL: (same as above 2 verses)

G
Now, your time may be short or your time may be long
D G C
Who dies? Everyone dies
G C G
But it's going to happen as sure as you're born
D G
Oh, everyone dies

C G D G
Friends and relations and all we hold dear
C G D
Will one day pass to the other side
G C G
So we'd better embrace them as long as they're here
D G
Oh, everyone dies

OUTRO: (same as above 2 verses)
