Biografía:
Israel Ka‘ano‘i Kamakawiwo‘ole nació en 1959 en la isla Oahu. Fue criado en la comunidad Kaimuki en las afueras de Waikiki donde sus padres vivían. A los 11 años empezó a tocar instrumentos musicales junto con su hermano mayor Skippy.
Durante su adolescencia, su familia se mudó a Makaha. Allí conoció a Louis "Moon" Kauakahi, Sam Gray y Jerome Koko quienes junto con su hermano Skippy formaron el grupo Hijos Makaha de Ni’ihau. Poco a poco desde 1976 y a lo largo de los 80
