David Francey - Long Way Home

CAPO: 2nd Fret

INTRO: F C F G F C G C

I can hear the rain beating on the window pane

And the wind keeps asking, "When will I see you again?"
F C
It's another memory of you
F G
Of another night alone
F G C
It's another night in the year of the long way home

Wipers steady as a heartbeat
F G
Thunder like a passing train
C
And the headlights picking out weeping willow
F G
Crying on the shoulder again
F C
It's another night on the back road
F G
Stretched tight like skin on bone
F G C
It's another mile in the year of the long way home

CHORUS:
F C
And it's a long way, baby
F G
It's a long way, I know
F C
It's a rough road to travel
G C
In the year of the long way home

INSTRUMENTAL: F C F G F C G C

When the hands can finally touch you
F G
When you're in my arms to hold
C
When we're laying together laughing again
F G
When the stories have all been told
F C
When I reach across the table
F G
Hold your hand inside my own
F G C
I can see an end to the year of the long way home

CHORUS:
F C
It's a long way, baby
F G
It's a long way, I know
F C
It's a rough road to travel
G C
In the year of the long way home

CHORUS:
F C
It's a long way, baby
F G
It's a long way, I know
F G C F G C
But I can see an end to the year of the long way home
