Musico californiano que se inicia en la música country para a mediados de los 60 formar parte de los Byrds, la réplica USA a los Beatles.
Continua su carrera tras dejar los Byrds en grupos como Flyng Burrito Brothers, Souther, Hillman, Furay Band y Desert Rose Band ademas de múltiples colaboraciones y discos en solitario.
