BR5-49

Biografía:

BR549 (originally spelled BR5-49) was an American country music band founded in 1993 that last played live in 2013 and has been on hiatus since then.

The band was formed in Nashville by co-leads Gary Bennett and Chuck Mead. Their music, referred to as alternative country or neotraditional, contains elements of western swing and rockabilly. They eschew modern Top 40 pop-country for a more raw, honky-tonk sound, with songs about 50s pin-up/dominatrix Bettie Page and The Ramones.

Bettie Bettie BR 549

[Intro]
E A

[Chorus]
A D E D A
Bettie Bettie where can you be? I ain't seen the likes of you in Hustler magazine,
A D E D A
Bettie Bettie don't you understand? If I had been taught by you I'd be a different man.

[Verse 1]
A D
You came to New York City back in Jack and Neil's day,
E D A
All the lights of old Time Square they flickered on the great white wave,
A D
Straight from Tennessee and in the rarest beauty form,
E D A
You walked before the car and caused a nationwide storm.

[verse 2]
A D
Oh, Pappy he remembered you from 1952,
E D A
All the boys down at the pool hall had a calendar or two,
A D
Forty odd years later your still up and goin' strong,
E D A
But I can't help wonderin' just where it is you've gone.

[Chorus]
A D E D A
Bettie Bettie where can you be? I ain't seen the likes of you in Hustler magazine,
A D E D A
Bettie Bettie don't you understand? If I had been taught by you I'd be a different man.

[Interlude]
A D E A A D E A

[Verse 3]
A D
Now all the boys at boot camp had your picture on their wall,
E D A
Thousands others saw you at their bachelor party brawl,
A D
But they don't see you smile like I do shining in my dreams,
E D A
That jungle mistress, dark Madonna, leather movie queen.

[Chorus]
A D E D A
Bettie Bettie where can you be? I ain't seen the likes of you in Hustler magazine,
A D E D A
Bettie Bettie don't you understand? If I had been taught by you I'd be a different man.

[Interlude]
A D E A A D E A

[Verse 4]
A D
Well, now Brigitte Bardot, Julie NewmaR, Mary and Fay Ray,
E D A
And Mr. Vargas pictures made me what I am today,
A D
But if I could see you one more time and not lose all my nerve,
E D A
I'd gladly give the greatest of them all what she deserves.

[Chorus]
A D E D A
Bettie Bettie where can you be? I ain't seen the likes of you in Hustler magazine,
A D E D A
Bettie Bettie don't you understand? If I had been taught by you I'd be a different man.
