En 1972, en la ciudad alemana de Ingolstadt, el guitarrista Hans Ziller fundó una agrupación titulada Cacumen con su hermano Karl, quien también tocaba la guitarra, entonces encontraron algunos otros músicos para formar juntos una banda.
