Annalise Emerick

Twinkling Lights

by Annalise Emerick
Annalise Emerick

Biografía:

"I’ve reconciled the fact that I’ll never live a simple life,” she says plainly, “and that’s alright with me. This is the life I chose for myself.” For Annalise Emerick, it isn’t just a brush-off. The self-starting, twenty-something, singer-songwriter has been on the road virtually non-stop for three years solid. This summer alone, she plays to sold-out crowds at over 150 shows in 90 different cities with the aid of nothing but a guitar.

[Verse 1]
B
There was a place in Maine,

not that long ago
Abm
Where we would hide away,

for several months or so.
E
Tucked beneath the pines,
B
and under summer skies,
Gb
a bunch of twenty somethings running barefoot every night.
B
And some of us were new,

and some had been for years.
Abm
And a few of us found love,

all of us had fears.
E
But every single night,

we'd gather by the fire,
Gb
and sing away the night.

[Chorus]
B E B Gb
And oh, when the fire burns out and the embers all die,
Abm E
we still have all our stories,
B Gb
like stars in the sky.
Abm E B Gb
And we will always remember how we lit up the night.
Abm E
Oh, summers by the lake,
B Gb B E B Gb
like a million twinkling lights...

[Verse 2]
B
And the days were only measured by the sun's rise and fall,
E Abm
and we spent our nights out searching for the meaning of it all.
E
Falling deep in love,

sneaking out at night,
Gbm
somehow it just felt right.

[Chorus]
B E B Gb
And oh, when the fire burns out and the embers all die,
Abm E
we still have all our stories,
B Gb
like stars in the sky.
Abm E B Gb
And we will always remember how we lit up the night.
Abm E
Oh, summers by the lake,
B Gb B E B Gb
like a million twinkling lights...
B E B Gb
Twinkling lights...

[Verse 3]
B Gb
Well I never saw it coming,
B
but now I'll always know,
Abm
that summer is more than freedom,

and love will come and go.
E
We may not have it now,
B
but we had it then.
Gb
We will never be the same,

no matter how it ends.
B
Because when we've all grown old,

living far away.
Abm
On our darkest days,

we will remember Maine.
E
Cuz there's something about a fire,
B
and a couple rounds of beer.
Gb
And we'll tell em all our dreams,

love for all to hear.

[Chorus]
B E B Gb
And oh, when the fire burns out and the embers all die,
Abm E
we still have all our stories,
B Gb
like stars in the sky.
Abm E B Gb
And we will always remember how we lit up the night.
Abm E
Oh, summers by the lake,
B Gb B E B Gb
like a million twinkling lights...
B E B Gb
Twinkling lights...
B E B Gb
Twinkling lights...
B E B Gb
Twinkling lights...
Abm E B
Twinkling lights.
