Frederick Austerlitz conocido como Fred Astaire, fue un actor, cantante, coreógrafo y bailarín de teatro y cine estadounidense.
Nació en Omaha, Nebraska el 10 de Mayo de 1899 y falleció el 22 de Junio de 1987.
Su carrera teatral y su posterior carrera en el cine abarcó un total de setenta y seis años, durante los que rodó treinta y una películas musicales. Está particularmente asociado con Ginger Rogers, con la que hizo diez películas que revolucionaron el género.
