Biografía:
James Joseph Brown, Jr. (Barnwell, Carolina del Sur, 3 de mayo de 1933 - Atlanta, Georgia, 25 de diciembre de 2006)
En 1953 ingresó en el grupo de gospel The Starlighters. Con él en el grupo fueron transformándose desde el gospel al R&B. Tiempo después el nombre del grupo pasó a ser The Famous Flames. En 1955 publicaron el single "Please, Please, Please". En 1958 se lanza el primer número uno de James Brown, "Try me". El 24 de octubre de 1962 ofrecieron un concierto el teatro Apollo de Nueva York
