La configuración de los australianos Hiatus Kaiyote no es lo que se dice convencional. Empezando por su aspecto, teniendo por líder a Nai Palm, quien lejos de conformarse con ser una melosa y frágil cantante, encabeza la formación tocando la guitarra, poniendo la voz y por lo tanto imprimiendo el carácter musical a un discurso que entrecruza sonidos de hip-hop abstracto en una atmósfera neo soul impregnada con sonoridades provinientes del jazz, el r&b progresivo y también del funk.
