Emma Roberts viene de una familia de estrellas, lo que para ella no es una sorpresa, sobrina de una de las actrices mejor pagadas en Hollywood (Julia Roberts) y su padre el actor Eric Roberts, nació en Rhinebeck, New York, es hija del actor Eric Roberts y de su esposa Kelly Cunningham, quien termino la relación poco después de su cumpleaños por acusaciones de violencia intrafamiliar. Eric Roberts y su hija fueron desahuciados en 1994 (cuando ella tenia 7 meses).
