Ryan Merchant y Sebu Simonian, nacido en Siria en una familia de padres armenios y radicado en Los Angeles desde los 7 años de edad, tenían una productora llamada Lazy Hooks, en la cual trabajaban de forma freelance para diversas empresas transnacionales y compañías discográficas, realizando jingles publicitarios.
