Twenty years ‘fore the depression
G D
Peter Thompson staked his claim
G D
In a little mountain town

Canton was her name

Told everyone that was willing

G D
So they started making paper
G A
Where the pigeon river forks

CH. 1
D G
This ain’t just another papertown
A D
On a random river side
G
She was build with blood and sweat and tears
A D
And a whole lotta pride
G A D
From the mountains and the farmland, from the smokestacks she has grown
G D A D
This ain’t just another papertown, it’s the one that I call home

G D A D

V2
G D
When wall street was crashing
G D
The mill kept going strong
G D
While Hitler’s war was raging
G A
Everyone worked twice as long
G D
There’s been mergers and sellouts
G D
Layoffs when times got tough
G D
Talks about pollution
G A
Then cleaning the river up

CH. 2
D G
This ain’t just another papertown
A D
Somewhere along the tracks
G
She’s seen her share of ups and downs
A D
And always bounces back
G A D
From the mountains and the farmlands, from the smokestacks she has grown
G D A D
This ain’t just another papertown it’s the one that I call home

BR.
G
She put food on the table
D
Cars on the highway

Through every generation

Her influence is clear
A
She’s taken care of young and old for over a hundred years

CH. 3
D G
This ain’t just another papertown
A D
It’s a part of who I am
G A D
Born in me as a little boy, so I could be a better man
G A D
From the mountains and the farmlands, from the smokestacks she has grown
G D A D
This ain’t just another papertown it’s the one that I call home
G D A G D
This ain’t just another papertown it’s the one… that I … call home
