Hijo de Woody Guthrie. Siguió los pasos de su padre, pero adaptando el folk tradicional americano a la época de la psicodelia (John Lennon: "Me hice psicodélico como toda mi generación"). Producto de esta tendencia musical es su album "Alice's Restaurant".
