Andrew Duhon

Gonna Take A Little Rain

by Andrew Duhon
Andrew Duhon

Biografía:

Andrew Duhon is an American singer-songwriter from New Orleans.

Duhon began his writing in highschool as a result of his fascination with the works of Emerson and Thoreau as well as poets Walt Whitman and Robert Frost. During the summer of '02 Duhon worked and lived at an old retreat house on the outskirts of the French Quarter of New Orleans. It was then that he fell in love with the character of the city. A year later hurricane Katrina left the city and his former French Quarter home crippled.

[Intro]
C

[Verse]
C F C
Well I met her last September, in these days I call to mind
G
She's my summer windswept Juliet, my autumn valentine
C F C
Yeah, we sit out on a Sunday to enjoy the sweet sunshine
E7 Am G F G
And she says, baby, how I wish it could be like this all the time

[Chorus]
C
It's gonna take a little rain
F C
To let the grass beneath us grow
C
It's gonna take a little rain
G
Before the flowers start to show
C
Sure, we all won't get our way
E7 Am Am7/G
But there's some things that we don't know
F G
Just trust that on the way to beautiful
C
It's gonna take a little rain

[Verse]
C F C
Well we parted on a Sunday, much too gloomy for its name
G
And the visions of forever faded into yesterday
C
And I grow tired thinking about starting over
F C
And all I can help but say
E7 Am G F G
Is good Lord, why does it always have to be this way?

[Chorus]
C
It's gonna take a little rain
F C
To let the grass beneath us grow
C
It's gonna take a little rain
G
Before the flowers start to show
C
Sure, we all won't get our way
E7 Am Am7/G
But there's some things that we don't know
F G
Just trust that on the way to beautiful
C F C G
It's gonna take a little rain

[Bridge]
F C
And the dark storms will come to bring you dark days
G7 C
The rivers will rise and what they want, they will take
F C
But that storm will pass and you will remain
G C
Save the tears in your eyes, love, leave that to the rain
F C
The dark storms will come to bring you dark days
G7 C
The rivers will rise and what they want, they will take
F C
But that storm will pass and you will remain
G C
Save the tears in your eyes, love, leave that to the rain
F C
And when that storm passes, take you by the hand
G7 C
Let you know I'll be forever your man
F C
And you'll know this love was never in vain
G
Save the tears in your eyes, love

[Chorus]
C
'Cause it's gonna take a little rain
F C
To let the grass beneath us grow
C
It's gonna take a little rain
G
Before the flowers start to show
C
Sure, we all won't get our way
E7 Am Am7/G
But there's some things that we don't know
F G
Just trust that on the way to beautiful
C F C G
It's gonna take a little rain
