These Are The Days - Will Varley

[Verse 1]
Em
STIs are rife in children,
G
Either guns or sex will kill them,
C
And if they make it to their 20s,
D
They'll probably have type-2 diabetes

[Verse 2]
Em
Locals cutting down the trees
G
For free papers no one reads
C
Illegal wars that sow the seeds of
D
So called democracy

[Verse 3]
Em
But if they took Afghanistan
G
in retaliation of the towers,
C
Tell me Mr Leader Man,
D
Why are the poppies still in flower?

[Verse 4]
Em
TV shows that make the music
G
Electric cars that no-one uses
C
Leona Lewis still in my head
D
At least top of the pops is dead

[Chorus 1]
Em G C
Well, these are the days and we hear it every day
Em G C
Then they wonder why we binge drink.

[Verse 5]
Em
Ice caps melt away
G
Shores are rising in the bay
C
Shares are falling every day
D
And the price of beer is how we pay

[Verse 6]
Em
Kids buying skinny jeans
G
And a best of The Libertines
C
Trading in their drum n bass
D
For the next big band on the fly front page

[Verse 7]
Em
Kids can't communicate
G
Spelling later with a number eight,
C
Let's have chips and lard for dinner,
D
Jamie Oliver make me thinner

[Verse 8]
Em
Politics like Jerry Springer,
G
Shout the loudest and you're the winner,
C
The church is empty so we're all sinners,
D
But I think hell sounds quite appealing

[Chorus 2]
Em G C
Well, these are the days and we hear it every day
Em G C
Then they wonder why we binge drink.

[Verse 9]
Em
And with bodies still fresh in the ditches,
G
Blair goes home to spend his riches
C
Now lets welcome in the Tories
D
I wasn't alive but I've heard the stories

[Verse 10]
Em
And the cost of living soars and soars,
G
Like some filthy joke,
C
And you'd think that they'd stop starting wars,
D
Before they tell us where to smoke

[Chorus 3]
Em G C
Well, these are the days and we hear it every day
Em G C
Then they wonder why we binge drink.
Em G C
Well, these are the days and we hear it every day
Em G C
Then they wonder why we binge drink.
