Em G C B Em G C B
I, stole the train out of your dream now you're full of bitter themes
Em G C B Em G C B
standing by the fruit machines you showed me what ambition means.

Em G C B
you're a highly paid actress struggling to get work as a waitress,
Em G C B
you ran away from the circus to go to school,
Em G C B
this ripe tomato that you call your brain
Em G C B
is beginning, to get on my nerves again

A Em
Oh David, you said, sometimes life gets complicated
A B
the telephone sweet telephone the kind of talk I've always hated
Em A Em A Em A Em A

G A Em A Em A
baby you don't have to go, yeah, yeah yeah yeah
G A Em A Em A
cos Jimmy Reed he told you so

Em G C B
I would like to die tonight without any feelings of guilt,
Em G C B
no use cryin over all the milk I've spilled,
Em G C B Em G C B
on bedrooms floors, behind closed doors, on silk tight ladies bellies
Em G C B
well I called about your hair your legs your eyes your mouth your skin
Em G C B
and I got drunk and fell asleep and dreamed of all the places you had been,
Em G C B Em G C B
every dream ended in violence, the rest is silence

A Em
David, you said, my mouth is sweet as pink ice cream
A B
David you said, I will get you in my dreams
Em A Em A Em A Em A
oh yeah, I said yeah, I said yeah? yeah?
G A Em A Em A

G A Em A Em A

(short solo)

Em G C B
Well it's raining, squirrels, hedgehogs, pigs and moths
Em G C B
and I am in my bedroom worshiping fake gods
Em G C B
Gene Simmons tongue it keeps the world turning
Em G C B
you stalk my liver with a volcanic quiver, my pancreas is burning

A Em
David, you said I live my life like birthday cake
A B
every year another layer, every year a new mistake
Em A Em A Em A Em A

G A Em A Em A
ya know Jimmy Reed he told you so, yeah

Em G C B
Your swimming trunks, your cigarettes, your dusty Spanish castanets
Em G C B
your childish brothers childish threats, the (______?) microwave cooking.
Em G C B
It took you a month to learn my name now I wish you would forget it
Em G C B
all the stuff you said would mess up my head but don't worry I do not let it.

A Em
David you said, sometimes I feel like I lost a bet,
A B
when boys blow kisses at my (___? __? ________?), it burns my soul like a cigarette,
Em A Em A Em A Em A
oh yeah! I said yeah, I said yayayayayayayeaheyeahyeah
G A Em A Em A
baby you don't have to go, yeah, I said yeah
G A Em A Em A

G A Em A Em A
oh baby you don't have to go, no no no no no no no no no no no
G A Em A Em A
Jimmy Reed he told you so
Em A Em Em Em Em Em Em Em Em Em

[It sounds like he uses bar chords for all of this (most obvious is the beginning and ending barred Em starting
on the 7th fret of the A string), but that is up to you, along with any other little intricacies.]

in fact these are the assumed bars he may and or does use:
Em G C B A maybe: B#/Ab
[--7---3---3---2---5------------1-
[--6---3---5---4---5------------3-
[--9---4---5---4---6------------3-
[--9---5---5---4---7------------3-
[--7---5---3---2---7------------1-
[-(0)--3---x---x---5------------x-

now on the B#/Ab, I personally use the standard finger placement for the A chord when I play this song, so that
between the end of the verse and the beginning of the chorus I throw the B#/Ab in there between the B and the A,
and do that little walk-down. I believe he does that in the song at least a time or two.
Anyway, you can definitely tell that that barred Em is how the song begins and ends.
I hope this was helpful for anyone, enjoy, I love this song.
