Paul Collins contaba 18 años cuando se une a Jack Lee y al bajista Peter Case, y forman los míticos The Nerves.
Es una banda emblemática de Power Pop americano de finales de los 70.
Era 1975, California, y parecía que iban directos a la fama, los tres componían. Los tres cantaban. Les sobraba aptitud. Llegaron a telonear a los Ramones, pero no llegaron a mas, tras sacar un fabuloso EP, "The nerves".
