Biografía:
Tras el apodo de Avey Tare se esconde David Portner (24 de Abril ,1979) músico y miembro fundador de Animal Collective.
Tiene varios proyectos experimentales tales como el EP que sacó junto con Eric Copeland del grupo Black Dice bajo el nombre de Terrestrial Tones.
Tambien sacó un disco peculiar llamado "Pullhair Rubeye" (24/04/07) junto con su ex-mujer
Kría Brekkan quien pertenecía al grupo islandes múm .
El disco no tuvo buena acogida, al menos por la crítica, por el hecho de que se editó sonando del revés.
