Banda liderada por el ecléctico-delirante-visionario; Anton Newcombe; y que desde sus comienzos tuvo como mejores amigos a unos chicos de Portland, Oregon; llamados: The Dandy Warhols.
Desde la parte sonora, este grupo de San Francisco va del rock de The Grateful Dead, The Seeds, 13th Floor Elevators, The Velvet Underground, pasando por The Who, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones al shoegaze y pop de My Bloody Valentine, Ride (la primer banda de Andy Bell, hoy en Oasis), The Boo Radleys o Pulp.
