Biografía:
Procedentes de Memphis, Tennessee, los Box Tops estaban originalmente formados por Alex Chilton (voz solista y guitarra), Bill Cunningham (bajo, teclados y coros), John Evans (guitarra, teclados y coros), Danny Smythe (batería) y Gary Talley (guitarra y coros).
En agosto de 1967 (en pleno “verano del amor”) editan su primer single “The Letter”, el cual alcanza el nº 1 en las listas de USA donde permanecerá durante 4 semanas y del cual se llegan a vender más de 4 millones de copias .
