Biografía:
Liderada por el inglés Tim Gane y la francesa Lætitia Sadier deudores del sonido del Kraut Rock (Kraftwerk y NEU!) , del space-rock británico y de la inventiva de bandas pioneras en experimentación de sonido como lo fue The Velvet Underground.
Tras la disolución de McCarthy, su anterior grupo, Gane montó el dúo con una de sus fans, Laetitia, a quien conoció en los conciertos.
Aunque Stereolab ha tenido diversos cambios en su formación desde sus comienzos, el germen activo del grupo siempre ha permanecido en ellos dos.
