Silence fue creado en 1992 por Boris Benko, Matjaz Ferenc y Primoz Hladnik en Ljubljana(Eslovenia).La música se caracteriza por melancolía, sonidos experimentales y arreglos vocales así como producción muy meticulosa. A pesar de que el grupo se sitúa como synth pop incorpora varios instrumentos vivos a sus grabaciones, como el piano, violín, viola, contrabajo, violoncelo, valiha(instrumento tradicional de Madagascar ) y otros.
