Railroad Earth

For Love

by Railroad Earth
Railroad Earth

Biografía:

Railroad Earth is a roots and Americana-based jamband from rural western Stillwater, New Jersey, USA. Their name stems from a Jack Kerouac poem "October in the Railroad Earth," and the band has a song by the same name. Railroad Earth's music combines elements of bluegrass, rock and roll, jazz, celtic and more, and the group is known for its extensive live improvisation and lyrical songwriting within an acoustic base.

The band members, already accomplished musicians, first came together in early 2001.

For Love - Railroad Earth
Written by - Robert Earl Keen

[Intro]
D Am G D

D Am C D
Strapped my guns and courage on set my cattle free
D F G D
Rolled a smoke and I made a vow no more to be reviled
D Am C D
Combed her hair and laid her out pretty as you please
Em C G D
Watched the fire light up the night, crying like a child

D Am C D
Saw a man in San Antone shoot down a dancin' queen
D F G D
And asked him on his hangin day, what was he thinkin of
D Am C D
He said I never liked the way she treated me so mean
Em C G D
In the end I'll tell you friend, I did it all for love

[CHORUS]
G D A Bm A G
Stood out on the ragged edge and there I took the fall
D Am G D
I did it all for love my friend, for love I did it all

D Am C D
Just this side of Devil's Dream above the sulphur mine
D F G D
I found the man who robbed me of the girl I loved and lost
D Am C D
I asked him before he died what made him cross the line
Em C G D
He asked me did I mean the line that I just stepped across

[CHORUS]
G D A Bm A G
Stood out on the ragged edge and there I took the fall
D Am G D
I did it all for love my friend, for love I did it all

Bm A G D E E7 A G
I..... Wonder why?

D Am C D
I've walked this earth these many years and left a trail of fire
D F G D
But once I was a gentle man every bit like you
D Am C D
Watched the heavens open up, heard the angel choir
Em C G D
Sing the holy song of God, to thine own self be true

[CHORUS]
G D A Bm A G
Stood out on the ragged edge and there I took the fall
D Am G D
I did it all for love my friend, for love I did it all
