Biografía:
Primal Scream fue formada en 1985 en Glasgow, Escocia, por el ex baterista de Jesus and Mary Chain, Bobby Gillespie y Jim Beattie.
En sus inicios la banda abordó el rock psicodélico, influenciada por bandas como The Byrds y Love. El nombre fue tomado de la teoría de terapia primal, según la cual el arte (y en particular su música) debe ser algo instintivo y esencial, abordando las fibras más íntimas del espectador.
Pronto Gillespie y Beattie decidieron sumar al proyecto al guitarrista Robert Young y Andrew Innes.
