Marit Larsen

Only A Fool

by Marit Larsen
Marit Larsen

D G D G

VERSE 1:
D G
So you say I need to consider this
D G
Yours were the face that I couldn t resist
D G
Yours was the fuel to the flames in my heart
D G
Mine were the words that would tear us apart
D G
Well I say I found the letters you wrote
D G
Mine was the smile and the life that you broke
D G
Mine was the story that you told your friends
D G
Yours were the demons you couldn t defend

PRE-CHORUS:
A G D
Understand me as of lately I ve learned a thing or two
A G
There is just no way that I ll be coming home to you

CHORUS:
D Dmaj7
Cause only a fool would do this again
D6 Dmaj7
Only a fool would let you back in
G D
There is no you left to embrace
G A
There is no word would make it feel safe
D Dmaj7
Love was a gift stubborn and wild
D6 Dmaj7
I was armed with the faith of a child
G D
And you were my joy you were my friend
G A
There is no going back there again
C G
It s more than you can ask of me my love
D
I m coming out of nowhere
Em F#m G
It feels good here better than you know
D A G A
Isn t it only fair that you try and let it go

VERSE 2:
D G
Yours was the ring that I started to wear
D G
Yours were the vows that went up in the air
D G
Yours was the choice to stay away from her
D G
Mine was the dream that got lost in the stir
D G
These were the times I would call you my own
D G
These were the times I were waiting at home

PRE-CHORUS 2:

A G D
I ll tell you something I ve been changing after what you put me through
A G
There is just no way that I ll be coming home to you

CHORUS:
D Dmaj7
Cause only a fool would do this again
D6 Dmaj7
Only a fool would let you back in
G D
There is no you left to embrace
G A
There is no word would make it feel safe
D Dmaj7
Love was a gift stubborn and wild
D6 Dmaj7
I was armed with the faith of a child
G D
And you were my joy you were my friend
G A
There is no going back there again

Cause only a fool would do this again
D6 Dmaj7
Only a fool would let you back in

There is no you left to embrace
