Nahko And Medicine For The People

Biografía:

Nahko “Bear” Parayn on the tip, is Oregon native Nahkohe Parayno. A sixth generation Apache/Mohawk this medicinal troubadour (his Cheyenne name given to him by his grandmother) didn’t grow up on his native land, with his Puerto Rican/Indian mother, or Filipino father.
Born, raised, and blessed in the suburbs by his adopted family, Nahko found roots in music and throughout his teens taught piano lessons and directed musical productions for local high schools.

[Intro}
G,C,D,Gm

[Verse 1]
G C D Gm
One, two, three, four, two, zero
G C D Gm
Let's do another one for the open road
G C D Gm
It's been crazy getting through last winter, but
G C D
The ocean has been such good company
Gm G C
And can you feel the earth tilting back and forth
D G
Back and forth

G G

G C D Gm
Here I sleep, parked next to the curb
G C D Gm
In Portland I cringe of growing up in the suburbs
G C D Gm
But I'll wash dishes for a quick cash binge
G C D Gm
'Til April comes and it's into the wilderness again

C

[Chorus]
G
Oh, father mountain
C D G
Show your face, where has the movement gone?
C D
For our equal race
G
Oh, father mountain
C D
Answer me
So be it
C G
Mountain, I follow thee

[Verse 2]
G C D Gm
Cosmic rays have amplified your face
G C
And been revealed to me
D Gm
In the strangest places
G C D Gm
I take it as no astrological sign
G C D Gm
And the eighth wonder has read my mind
G C
Feel the earth tilting back and forth
D Gm
Back and forth

G

G C D Gm G C
Unity and a common bond will bless this trail
D Gm
And dirt we trod upon
G C D Gm
I wake to the birds and my bitter back burns
G C
Smile like you mean it
D Gm
And it will be returned

[Chorus]
G
Oh, father mountain
C D G
Show your face, where has the movement gone?
C D
For our equal race
G
Oh, father mountain
C D
Answer me
So be it
C G
Mountain, I follow thee

[Solo]

[Bridge]
Aho man, what kind of power’s in me?
Aho man, can you see it churning?
Aho man, what kind of fire’s in me
Aho man, can you see it burning?
C D Gm G
Aho man, I got some power in me
C D G
Aho man, can you see it churning?
C D Gm G
Aho man, I got some fire in me
C D G [N.C.]
Aho man, can you see it burning?
