Mike McClure

Outlaws Prayer

by Mike McClure
Mike McClure

Biografía:

Hailing from Stillwater, Oklahoma, The Great Divide was a grass roots working band that attempted to meet the country music industry head on with its work ethic, tenacity, genuine likeability, and hard-hitting style. Over the past fifteen years The Great Divide steadily progressed the hill of the unforgiving music industry, proving not only their musical talents, but also their business savvy before disbanding in 2007.

In 1993 the group formed their own record label, publishing company and operating company, and began recording.

[Verse 1]
C#m E
Federales on the border With a wanted poster sign
F#m C#m
Jesse’s picture on it and he’s running out of time
C#m E
Shot a boy in San Diego as he reached down for his gun
F#m C#m
Thought he’d be a hero Well I’m real sorry about that son
C#m E
But you ain’t the first to try and die since Jesse jumped his bail
F#m G#
Had a thousand federales waitin’ and hell hounds on his trail

[Chorus]
C#m E
When he said Father please forgive me for the evil that I do
F#m G#
If you get me safe to Mexico I swear to you I'm through
C#m E
And if redemption comes in a blaze of bullets I guess that'd be fair
F#m G# C#m
I ain't afraid of dying I just hope you hear this outlaw's prayer

[Verse 2]
C#m E
Well he crossed the rio grande river where the water was runnin' low
F#m C#m
He heard a federale cry out Jesse's down below
C#m E
And he rode up the other side blind into the night
F#m C#m
When a bullet knocked him from his horse and he crawled outta sight
C#m E
And as he lay there tremblin' his blood spillin' down his shirt
F#m G#
He prayed to God Almighty layin' face down in the dirt

[Chorus]

[Verse 3]
C#m E
Well he woke up in a mission Layin' on a padre's bed
F#m C#m
Said the federales are long gone I told 'em that you were dead
C#m E
I buried you this morning I put your guns in the ground
F#m C#m
I don't lie without a reason Jesse You best turn your life around
C#m E
Why this cup passed from your lips son Heaven only knows
F#m G#
Jesse said the only answer God was listenin' I suppose

[Chorus]
