[INTRO]
G D Em C
G D Em C

[CHORUS]
G D Em C
They're closing down Big Daddy's, at least that's what I hear
G D
That can't be right, I was there last week
Em C
And it's been there for thirty years.
G D Em C
They're closing down Big Daddy's, and I guess it must be true
G D
Big story in the paper
C D G D
And now the whole town has the blues.

[VERSE]
G D Em C
Well I went by to visit, to see so for myself.
G D
There was something wrong when I drove up
Em C
No cars in front, no kitchen help.
G D
Where are all the truckers
Em C
And the bikers on their weekend rides?
G D
And what about the rest of us,
C D G D
Where are the teenagers gonna hide?

[CHORUS]
G D Em C
They're closing down Big Daddy's, at least that's what I hear
G D
Big story in the paper
C D G D
And now the whole town has the blues.

[VERSE]
G D
Inside there's tables and a breakfast counter
Em C
Where the old timers used to sit
G D
To mingle with the familes
Em C
To talk about their Saturday and feed their kids.
G D
Or you could walk across the canyon road
Em C
And see the old Vallejo Mill
G D
Or you could eat your lunch below a tressle
C D G D
And watch the cattle on the hills.

[CHORUS]
G D Em C
They're closing down Big Daddy's, and I guess it must be true
G D
Big story in the paper
C D G D
And now the whole town has the blues.

[VERSE]
G D
I heard someone working in the back
Em C
A crew of men I did not know
G D
They were taking out refrigerators
Em C
Nothing left but the kitchen stove
G D
But this is not your average greasy spoon
Em C
So take a good look while it stands
G D
You're just in time to get a picture
C D G D
And watch a legend turn to sand.

[CHORUS]
G D Em C
They're closing down Big Daddy's, at least that's what I hear
G D
Big story in the paper
C D G D
And it's been there for thirty years.

[VERSE]
G D
What I would give for one more meal
Em C
Or just a cold vanilla shake
G D
One more ride from the ball field
Em C
With my own dad to this old place
G D
It's a shame to see this icon die
Em C
This memory from my youth
G D
Cuz it was here and so was I
C D G
I just wish I had some proof.

[CHORUS]
G D Em C
They're closing down Big Daddy's, at least that's what I hear
G D
That can't be right, I was there last week
Em C
And it's been there for thirty years.
G D Em C
They're closing down Big Daddy's, and I guess it must be true
G D
Big story in the paper
C D G
And now the whole town has the blues.

[OUTRO]
G D
They're closing down Big Daddy's
