Major Lazer es el resultado de la colaboración, en primera instancia, entre Switch y Diplo, quienes tras el éxito obtenido con la producción conjunta de Paper Planes de M.I.A. decidieron experimentar en el estudio y tratar de editar un álbum hecho para las pistas de baile.
