Es muy difícil que cuando se diga rock and roll alguien no piense en los gritos de Little Richard. Quizás ningún otro artista, exceptuando a Elvis, tuvo un papel tan importante en la construcción de los cimientos del rock and roll. Será tal vez por eso, que él se llama a sí mismo “El Arquitecto del Rock and Roll”.
En sus grabaciones el ritmo frenético del piano y lo carraspeado de su voz en temas como "Tutti Frutti," "Long Tall Sally" y "Good Golly, Miss Molly" hicieron del rock and roll una categoría aparte en la música.
