Lee Harvey Osmond

Caney Fork River

by Lee Harvey Osmond
Lee Harvey Osmond

Biografía:

Lee Harvey Osmond, stylized as LeE HARVeY OsMOND, is a Canadian psychedelic folk project fronted by musician Tom Wilson.

“Acid folk” is said to have been born in an old garage off Clinton Avenue in Toronto, concocted by Tom Wilson from Blackie & the Rodeo Kings, a few Cowboy Junkies, and some Skydiggers.

Allowing bass, hypnotic rhythms and a lot of groove into their songwriting circle, the artist collective LeE HARVeY OsMOND created a sound that would creep out of the Northern woods and across the Great Lakes into the South

[Verse 1]
G
Well I first saw her on the Caney Fork River
C G
They said her daddy'd rather shoot her than ever forgive her
C G
Falling for one of the Macallum clan
G D
But what do you expect he’s a feuding man

[Verse 2]
G
Every day before breakfast her mother said daughter
C G
It’s time you got your bucket and went to fetch water
C G
And she’d skip down the path to the cool dark eddy
G D G G/C G
That fed into the Caney Fork River

[Chorus]
Em
Caney Fork River
Em
Caney Fork River
C G
Water everywhere it’s a taker and a giver
C
She touched it to her body
G
She touched it to her lips
G D G
How I wish I was the Caney Fork River
G D Em Em7 Em
oooooOOOOoooo

[Verse 3]
G
Well there’s no use thinking that you won’t get caught
C G
Because your lucky streak's been running hot
C G
I couldn’t swim but I started across
G Em Em7
Hangin on to the branches of a hollow log

[Verse 4]
G
Well the log struck a rock and I went to the bottom
C G
And my body washed away late last autumn
C G
Spirit still lingers in the cool dark water
G D G G/C G
That washes the skin of Ferguson’s daughter

[Chorus]
Em
Caney Fork River
Em
Caney Fork River
C G
Water everywhere it’s a taker and a giver
C
She touched it to her body
G
She touched it to her lips
G D G
How I wish I was the Caney Fork River

[Outro]
Em
Caney Fork River
Em
Caney Fork River
C G
Water everywhere it’s a taker and a giver
C
She touched it to her body
G
She touched it to her lips
G D G
How I wish I was the Caney Fork River
G D Em
oooooOOOOoooo
